Batch verification for pet supplement and pet food brands
Batch verification for pet supplement and pet food brands gives each product one permanent QR code. An owner scans it, types the lot code printed on the bag, tin or tub, and sees that batch's status, the certificate of analysis you attached to it, and any notice you have published. The code on the pack never changes; the lot code tells the page which production run it is answering for.
Why do pet owners ask about one batch?
Because that is how a problem arrives. When a pet food or supplement lot is withdrawn or placed on hold, the announcement names the affected lots. The owner's immediate question is not whether your brand is reputable, but whether the specific bag or tin in their cupboard is part of that production run. They should be able to answer it in seconds from the pack, without searching through press releases or waiting on an email response.
The same lookup serves everyday quality transparency — whether you have attached a certificate of analysis to the batch they just opened, and who you recorded as issuing it.
What does an owner see when a lot is on hold or recalled?
When a lot is placed on hold or recalled, the page changes immediately. For a held lot, an owner sees the Quarantined status mark, the notice you wrote, and your support contact, and is told to keep the product until you say more. For a recalled lot, a filled stop-use line sits above everything else, with the Recalled status mark, your notice and your support contact beneath it.
In both cases the certificate of analysis is withdrawn from the page, and any existing link to it stops resolving at once. Every other production run of that product keeps answering exactly as you set it.
Neither a hold nor a recall can be saved without a written notice for the customer, and a recall also requires typing the lot code to confirm — how lot-specific recalls and holds reach customers walks through the quarantine and recall process step by step.
What BatchRoute does not do
BatchRoute is documentation and communication infrastructure. It does not test products, examine ingredients, audit manufacturing facilities, review formulas, or verify nutritional adequacy statements.
Animal food and pet supplements are governed by distinct animal feed and veterinary regulations. BatchRoute does not review your labels, nutrient profiles, feed declarations, or feed registrations against those rules. It publishes the records and documents you supply.
Publishing a notice reaches owners who scan the pack and look up their code. It does not send push notifications, emails, or text messages, and it does not replace or satisfy statutory reporting or recall obligations to regulators, feed control officials, retailers, or distributors.
Lot codes on bags, tins, pouches and tubs
The lookup matches a lot code exactly, ignoring only letter case and spaces. A missing digit, a changed character or an omitted hyphen means no match. On a kibble bag, the code is often printed along a folded gusset or heat-sealed crimp where creasing occurs; on a tin, it is typically inkjet-printed or embossed on the indented base; on chew pouches, it usually sits near the tear notch.
Checking code legibility on real packaging before a production run avoids unreadable codes in circulation. Once products are in customers' hands, your workspace lists the lot codes owners typed most often that returned no match, with the nearest real code when an entry is within two characters of one — printing lot codes customers can read covers pack inspection and printer setup.
What BatchRoute is not
BatchRoute publishes and hosts the batch information you give it. It is verification and documentation infrastructure — not a testing laboratory, a certification body, or a statement that a product meets any regulation. We don't test your product, review your laboratory results, certify anything or determine regulatory compliance. You remain responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of what you publish.
